Out of the teens

the It is to say that I´m not ready to be twenty. Not at all. Or rather: not yet. Not mature enough. But I wasn´t allowed to say that, Kim said. Not when I´m in the middle of aged people (whatever THAT´s supposed to mean!). However it happened that Rob had his 40. on the 7th of May one day before mine. COINSIDENCE !! Or boring times in 1970 and 1990...

And because we had this double trouble birthday event to be up it was the only right thing to do giving a big party (Lucky because I don´t know enough people to have one for myself).

So we got up on Saturday morning quite early (6:30, aaaaaahhhhhhhh) to go to Ella´s and Josh´s soccer games (both won 7:0!!). On the way home we picked up a pig Rob´s brother shot the night before – fresh meat! That was going to be roasted on a spit which was picked up the day before. The minute we got home, Rob started to sort out the pig,

Kim cleaned (…) and I tried to keep the kids busy. Kims sisters from Auckland and Tauranga popped in and tried to help. But it was too busy already so we all ended up in kind of chaos and nobody really was able to go on preparing anything.

From 7pm on the guests were expected but the first cam half an hour later. I assume coming in time to a party is uncool all over the world…

But because Kim and I had an early drink it didn´t really matter. We started playing pool.

At about 9pm everybody who was supposed to be there arrived. We chatted and played pool and the house was so full of people you couldn’t go a meter without stopping and talking to another person.

By 10pm I got surprised with my very own birthday cake which Skye made for me. So Robert had his dug shooting cake without the shooting and I had a pink Julia cake.

I got a Greenstone from Kim and Robert, a whale tale with the meaning for save traveling, protection, strength and sensibility. I love it. The Greenstone (Jadestone) by the way is the symbol of the maori. It comes in different shapes each with a different meaning and beautiful names in maori. And because it brings bad luck if you buy one for yourself I´m glad I got one given. Nobody wants to have bad luck.

At around twoish most of the people were gone and we started tiding up the most and went to bed.

Today is Mothers day and Kim said that’s her special day where she can stay in her PJ´s all day and drink too much and eat too much and be lazy and watch TV the whole time. So I´m looking forward to a relaxed day though there must be somebody doing all the chores =)

Thank you for all the congratulations, I was as merry as a lark :D

Love,

Julia

PS.: I don´t know what the heck happened to the flippin pictures he are all up site down and I can´t change it. So excuse me but it´s not my fault it´s blogspots!!! Arrrrrrgggggghhhhhh!!!!!
